WHAT WE DO

To help you understand our vision, we have divided our explanation in to the problem we wish to solve and the solution we are implementing.

The problem: Undiagosed sleep disorders putting health and safety at risk

The solution:  Our technology, products, and services

What follows is a brief description of our company.

NeuroVigil, Inc. is an early stage neuroscience company poised to revolutionize the analysis of brain signal or EEG data, which currently is used in numerous medical applications but is not automated.  NeuroVigil's patent-pending and proprietary technology provides for extremely rapid, automated, and accurate reading and interpretation of electroencephalogram data, which is a window to the functioning of the brain.  EEG data acquisition and interpretation is currently a cumbersome, time consuming, and error prone activity but serves as a cornerstone of testing in the multibillion dollar reimbursed sleep study market.  NeuroVigil's technologic advance affords the company the opportunity to dramatically improve quality and lower costs of sleep testing, and of creating value in several other key markets including pharmaceutical testing and transportation safety, each of which represent additional billion dollar opportunities.  The Company's technology not only automates current manual tasks, but also more than quadruples the amount of useful information obtained from current EEG data, which may lead in the future to neural signatures, or correlates of important disease states, that will be useful in early detection and diagnosis of important medical conditions.  The NeuroVigil platform is currently targeted at addressing the following three multibillion dollar markets through both a service and product offering:

  • Sleep Testing for Evaluation of Sleep Apnea ($4B+ per year, 20%+ CAGR)
  • Evaluation of Pharmaceutical Effects on Sleep ($3B+ per year, 10%+ CAGR)
  • Transportation Safety Device ($5B+ per year, 15%+ CAGR)

The NeuroVigil technology comprises both patented and proprietary elements that the company is developing for both product and service offerings.  The Company's technology is centered on a highly sophisticated algorithm that has been proven, using human data, to perform better than a highly trained neurologist at interpreting a night's worth of EEG data, and performs this task that requires 30-60 minutes for an experienced human scorer in less than 60 seconds.  By leveraging this technology to automate interpretation of sleep EEG data for sleep labs, for its proprietary at-home sleep device and transportation safety device, the Company expects to dramatically increase efficiency and availability of sleep diagnostics, and improve commercial transportation safety.  The Company believes that both a FDA 510(k) pathway for regulatory approval and current Medicare reimbursement codes for its technology make for both favorable clinical and regulatory outlooks. The recent favorable Medicare coverage decision for at-home testing for OSA significantly enlarges the target market for products that incorporate and deploy the patent pending and proprietary Neurovigil technology.

The Company was founded in 2007 by Dr. Philip Low and Dr. Terrence Sejnowski. While a graduate student in Dr. Sejnowski's laboratory at the Salk Institute, Dr. Low developed the SPEARS (Sleep Parametric EEG Automated Recognition System) algorithm, which involves both patent-pending and proprietary elements that produce automated sleep analyses readings of a night's worth of data, collected from a single channel of EEG, in less than 60 seconds on a standard computing platform.  He has assembled an influential and strategically minded board of directors and consultants including four Nobel laureates, a co-Founder of Qualcomm, the creator of Mathematica, several directors of sleep centers.  The Company has an international network of collaborators and Dr. Low has attracted offers from the Salk Institute, the Max-Planck Institute, the University of Oxford and the California Institute of Technology. NeuroVigil would like to create 4 core research centers and a clinical facility in partnership with Dr. Low and these institutions

NeuroVigil thus promises a step change in the cost effectiveness and breadth of application of brainwave analysis thanks to technology which makes it the only company in the world capable to provide non-invasive, rapid, high-resolution brain activity monitoring.
